Family Support
This intervention is designed to assist family members to identify problems that have had a significant impact on the family system. The work involves changing attitudes and fostering a more productive way to communicate concerns around behaviors that have impacted everyone. Substance abuse and addiction thrives in families where there are no healthy boundaries maintained.
Families are given the opportunity to learn about addictions and mental health disorders. They can discuss issues that have been involved and concerned often for years, and begin to heal together.
Furthermore, family members are provided with an opportunity to learn the skills needed to work through their own issues, develop self-care techniques, and learn how to support their loved one and still remain firmly boundaried.
Often a new approach by the family is the trigger for the addict to seek recovery.
